SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 735
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Rose E. Longoria for her many accomplishments and her
  outstanding contributions to the field of education in
  Brownsville; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Rose Longoria
  was raised by devoted parents who instilled in her a love of
  learning and the drive to succeed; she has had a rewarding career
  helping vulnerable young citizens build the foundations for
  their own promising futures; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Longoria is the principal at James Pace Early
  College High School in Brownsville, where she has shaped a
  culture of success that has made a difference in the lives of
  thousands of at-risk students; through her guidance, the high
  school faculty prioritizes the development of individual
  graduation plans that focus on post-secondary education for each
  of the students, and they help break down socioeconomic barriers
  by providing outreach programs to students and their families in
  their homes and communities; and
         WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Longoria's outstanding leadership,
  James Pace Early College High School has been recognized as one
  of the Best High Schools in America by U.S. News and World Report
  for three consecutive years; the school was the only high school
  in the nation to receive a 2016 National Excellence in Urban
  Education Gold Award, and most recently, Mrs. Longoria was named
  a finalist in the 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, a
  notable honor that reflects her unwavering dedication to her
  students; and
         WHEREAS, Rose Longoria is an exemplary educational
  administrator, and the citizens of Brownsville have greatly
  benefited from her generous spirit and her expertise; she is
  indeed deserving of recognition for her outstanding service in
  the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Rose E. Longoria on her exceptional
  achievements as an educational administrator and extend to her
  best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
