SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 383
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Thor, an exceptionally talented K-9 member of the Abilene
  Police Department who was medically retired on January 23, 2017,
  after four and a half years of distinguished service; and
 
         WHEREAS, During his years on the police force, Thor
  responded to 5,000 calls for service; he contributed to 180
  felony arrests and 160 misdemeanor arrests, and he helped seize
  illegal drugs with a street value of more than $1 million; and
 
         WHEREAS, Thor was one of five K-9 members of the Abilene
  Police Department; he completed his duties with focus, skill, and
  determination, and he is medically retiring despite his
  instinctive desire to continue his service; and
 
         WHEREAS, Thor was a highly respected member of the
  department who was beloved by fellow officers and by members of
  the community; he will be enjoying his future at the home of his
  former colleague, Officer Josh New, and his presence at the
  Abilene Police Department will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Thor for his exceptional service to
  the Abilene community and extend to him best wishes for the
  retirement years ahead in his new home; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor
  of Thor and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
