SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 357
         WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
  cause for celebration, and Thelma Hope Roach of Henderson marked
  this momentous milestone in her life on January 13, 2017; and
 
         WHEREAS, Born in Rusk County in 1917 to Robert and Lena
  Thompson, the former Hope Thompson is descended from the
  Thompson-McCoy family; she is the granddaughter of Evan
  Thompson, who was listed in the 1896 Choctaw Census, and she is of
  Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Cherokee descent; today, she is revered
  as the oldest member of the Mount Tabor Indian Community; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Roach shared a fulfilling marriage of more
  than five decades with her husband, Cecil Lee Roach; the couple
  made their home in Rusk County, outside of Henderson; a devoted
  mother, she takes great pride in her two sons, Ronald "Butch"
  Thompson and Claude Timothy Thompson; and
 
         WHEREAS, The resilience and strength of character
  demonstrated by centenarians are a source of enduring
  inspiration, and Hope Roach has joined an elite group of Texans
  who can reflect on 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Thelma Hope Roach on her 100th
  birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mrs. Roach as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
