SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119

Eduardo Genis Aguilar |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Eduardo Genis |
|
Aguilar, who died August 2, 2016, at the age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1936, Eduardo Aguilar was a longtime |
|
resident of Brownsville; he touched the lives of others through |
|
his kindness, his wise counsel, and his contributions to the |
|
community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ed Aguilar was a respected educator who taught |
|
Spanish and French at The University of Texas at Brownsville and |
|
Texas Southmost College for many years; and |
|
WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Ed served in a |
|
number of leadership roles; he was a potentate of the local |
|
Shriners chapter, and he was president of the West Brownsville |
|
Lions Club; he was a congregant of the First United Methodist |
|
Church, where he served on several boards and as the church |
|
treasurer; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Ed Aguilar was |
|
respected and admired by many, and he leaves behind memories that |
|
will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Eduardo Genis Aguilar; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Eduardo Aguilar. |
