SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 110
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been
  enhanced by a great and enduring love, Johnny and Bonnie Cates of
  Quitman are celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary on
  April 7, 2017; and
 
         WHEREAS, On that memorable day in 1955, high school
  sweethearts Johnny Cates and the former Bonnie Williams were
  joined in matrimony in a ceremony held at the First Baptist
  Church of Gilmer; over the years, they became the parents of four
  children, Steve, Amanda, Laura Lee, and the late Scott Cates, and
  today their fine family has grown to include two additional
  generations; and
 
         WHEREAS, Valued residents of Quitman since 1970, the
  couple are now both retired; Mr. Cates served as a colonel in the
  Texas National Guard and Reserve and worked for the Texas
  Agricultural Extension Service, while Mrs. Cates enjoyed a
  notable career with the Quitman Independent School District; and
 
         WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
  62 years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
  their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love
  has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
  grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Johnny and Bonnie Cates on the
  occasion of their 62nd wedding anniversary and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
