S.C.R. No. 44
 
 
 
 
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  WHEREAS, The city of Mineola lost a beloved resident with the
  passing of Frances Debora McBride Collins on February 20, 2017, at
  the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1925 in the community of Hopewell, the
  former Frances McBride graduated from John Tyler High School in
  1941; she worked as an elevator operator in People's National Bank
  in Tyler before taking a job with the Cotton Belt Railway; during
  World War II, she won the distinction of being named Miss Camp
  Fannin at the U.S. Army Infantry Training Center near Tyler; and
         WHEREAS, She married Wayne Collins in 1948, and the couple
  made their home in Mineola, where they owned and operated Collins, a
  clothing and gift store; Mrs. Collins played an important role in
  the business, working at the cosmetics counter, modeling the
  clothing at fashion shows in Mineola and Tyler, and accompanying
  her husband on buying trips to Dallas and New York; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted mother, Mrs. Collins took great pride in
  her four children, Craig, Corey, Cristle, and Clay, and she
  actively participated in the PTA and in running the Band Booster
  concession stand; as the years passed, she was further blessed with
  10 beloved grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Engaged in her community, Mrs. Collins was a valued
  member of the First Baptist Church of Mineola and the local chapter
  of the Philanthropic Educational Organization; in her leisure time,
  she enjoyed gardening and landscaping, and she received the Yard of
  the Month Award from the Mineola Garden Club on multiple occasions;
  and
         WHEREAS, Frances Collins lived a full and generous life
  surrounded by those she loved, and she will forever be remembered
  with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frances Debora McBride Collins
  and extend heartfelt sympathy to her relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Frances Collins.
