R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Hermann Buschor of Houston on September 1, 2016, at the age |
|
of 80; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Buschor was born in Horgen, Switzerland, in |
|
February 1936 and received a Catholic education at Kollegium Maria |
|
Hilf in the town of Schwyz; after graduating from Zurich Trade |
|
School, he emigrated to the United States and studied financial |
|
analysis and marketing at New York University; and |
|
WHEREAS, He began his career by working in the transportation |
|
and fashion industries in New York, but he soon focused his |
|
professional endeavors in the oil and gas industry, and over the |
|
years, his work took him all over the world, including to Russia, |
|
Indonesia, Malaysia, Africa, and South America, as well as |
|
throughout the United States and Canada; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man beloved for his wise advice and moral support, |
|
he met the love of his life, Joan Chmiel, in New York; they enjoyed |
|
their world travels before they came to Texas and settled in |
|
Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Buschor found pleasure in a |
|
number of pursuits, including tennis, oil painting, gardening, and |
|
reading, and he was the Commandery Receiver, Southwest, of the |
|
Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem; he was |
|
also a strong advocate for education and languages and worked to |
|
foster good communication and understanding among all people; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Hermann Buschor is greatly missed, this |
|
kind and generous man has left his family and friends with many |
|
cherished memories, and he will forever hold a special place in |
|
their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hermann Buschor and |
|
extend heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Joan Buschor, to the other |
|
members of his family, and to his many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hermann |
|
Buschor. |
