R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kahlan Rebekah Martin has been named salutatorian of |
|
|
the Class of 2017 at Summer Creek High School in Houston, and she |
|
|
indeed merits special recognition for receiving this significant |
|
|
honor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; in securing her place as one of the two |
|
|
top ranking students in her class, Ms. Martin demonstrated a |
|
|
thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and her |
|
|
attainment of this coveted accolade is the crowning achievement of |
|
|
a notable high school career; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An AP Scholar with Distinction, Ms. Martin was a |
|
|
member of the National Honor Society; she also served the school as |
|
|
a cheerleader, as president of the Spanish Club, and as a violinist |
|
|
in the orchestra, which she further served as vice president; she |
|
|
plans to attend Stanford University in the fall; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During her years at Summer Creek High, Kahlan |
|
|
Rebekah Martin has earned the respect and admiration of both her |
|
|
teachers and classmates, and her exceptional scholastic ability and |
|
|
commitment to excellence have opened the way to a bright and |
|
|
promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kahlan Rebekah Martin on |
|
|
graduating as salutatorian of the Summer Creek High School Class of |
|
|
2017 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as |
|
|
she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
