R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ofilia
  Barrera Dominguez of Edroy, who passed away on March 27, 2017, at
  the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Reynosa, Mexico, on March 20, 1932, the
  former Ofilia Barrera was the daughter of Guadalupe Valdez and
  Felix Barrera; she moved to the United States at the age of five and
  grew up in Edroy with six sisters and five brothers; and
         WHEREAS, She married Carlos Castro Dominguez in 1948, and the
  couple shared a fulfilling relationship of 50 years before his
  death in 1999; she was a loving mother to her daughter, Noelia, and
  to her six sons, Alberto, Carlos, Rene, Daniel, Jaime, and
  Benjamin; through the years, she also knew the joy of welcoming into
  her family 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A talented cook, Mrs. Dominguez worked in a number
  of restaurants and liked to pamper loved ones with their favorite
  dishes; she belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church,
  where she was a member of the Guadalupanas; in her free time, she
  enjoyed going to bingo games; and
         WHEREAS, Ofilia Dominguez lived a caring and purposeful life,
  and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who
  held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ofilia Barrera
  Dominguez and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ofilia
  Dominguez.
