R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jim Miller is retiring from Waxahachie High School |
|
in 2017, drawing to a close an exemplary career as a coach that has |
|
spanned more than three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Miller joined the athletic department at |
|
Waxahachie High in 1985, and he has ably served as an assistant |
|
baseball, softball, and football coach; after taking on the role of |
|
head coach of the Indians baseball team during the 2002-2003 |
|
season, he was named interim head coach of the Lady Indians in 2007 |
|
and then returned to the position of head coach for the following |
|
year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his notable tenure, Coach Miller |
|
has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments; he has helped |
|
guide the Indians baseball team to 28 postseason berths, including |
|
three appearances in the University Interscholastic League state |
|
tournament and two in the state finals; moreover, he played an |
|
instrumental role in piloting the 1992 football team to the UIL 4A |
|
championship title; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jim Miller has served as an inspiring mentor and |
|
role model to countless young Texans, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
pride on his numerous achievements as he embarks on the next |
|
exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Miller on the occasion of his |
|
retirement from Waxahachie High School and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Coach Miller as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
