R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Jim Miller is retiring from Waxahachie High School
  in 2017, drawing to a close an exemplary career as a coach that has
  spanned more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Miller joined the athletic department at
  Waxahachie High in 1985, and he has ably served as an assistant
  baseball, softball, and football coach; after taking on the role of
  head coach of the Indians baseball team during the 2002-2003
  season, he was named interim head coach of the Lady Indians in 2007
  and then returned to the position of head coach for the following
  year; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his notable tenure, Coach Miller
  has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments; he has helped
  guide the Indians baseball team to 28 postseason berths, including
  three appearances in the University Interscholastic League state
  tournament and two in the state finals; moreover, he played an
  instrumental role in piloting the 1992 football team to the UIL 4A
  championship title; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Miller has served as an inspiring mentor and
  role model to countless young Texans, and he may indeed reflect with
  pride on his numerous achievements as he embarks on the next
  exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Miller on the occasion of his
  retirement from Waxahachie High School and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Miller as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
