R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |
|
family and friends of Richard Rodriguez of Houston, who passed away |
|
on May 14, 2017, at the age of 64; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rick Rodriguez was born on June 4, 1952, in Houston, |
|
and he grew up in the Near Northside neighborhood, where he remained |
|
a proud resident for most of his life; he attended Jeff Davis High |
|
School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1970; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Rodriguez participated |
|
in numerous political campaigns by walking the block, hanging |
|
signs, and working the polls at Moody Park and his alma mater; he |
|
was also a valued congregant of Holy Name Catholic Church, which he |
|
served as an usher and as a volunteer cook for church bazaars, and |
|
he gave generously of his time and energy to the Knights of Columbus |
|
Council No. 8247; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed dancing and |
|
listening to Tejano music; and |
|
WHEREAS, An easygoing and fun-loving man, Rick Rodriguez |
|
possessed a generosity of spirit that expressed itself in myriad |
|
ways, and he will long be remembered with deep affection by all who |
|
had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Rodriguez and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
mother, Consuelo Rodriguez Contreras; to his sisters, Irma Rach and |
|
her husband, Bill, and Silvia Trevino and her husband, Victor; to |
|
his brother, David Rodriguez, and his wife, Diane; to his many |
|
nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rick |
|
Rodriguez. |
