R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the
  family and friends of Richard Rodriguez of Houston, who passed away
  on May 14, 2017, at the age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, Rick Rodriguez was born on June 4, 1952, in Houston,
  and he grew up in the Near Northside neighborhood, where he remained
  a proud resident for most of his life; he attended Jeff Davis High
  School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1970; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Rodriguez participated
  in numerous political campaigns by walking the block, hanging
  signs, and working the polls at Moody Park and his alma mater; he
  was also a valued congregant of Holy Name Catholic Church, which he
  served as an usher and as a volunteer cook for church bazaars, and
  he gave generously of his time and energy to the Knights of Columbus
  Council No. 8247; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed dancing and
  listening to Tejano music; and
         WHEREAS, An easygoing and fun-loving man, Rick Rodriguez
  possessed a generosity of spirit that expressed itself in myriad
  ways, and he will long be remembered with deep affection by all who
  had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Rodriguez and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  mother, Consuelo Rodriguez Contreras; to his sisters, Irma Rach and
  her husband, Bill, and Silvia Trevino and her husband, Victor; to
  his brother, David Rodriguez, and his wife, Diane; to his many
  nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rick
  Rodriguez.
