R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The NEW Leadership Texas Summer Institute is being
  held at The University of Texas at Austin from June 1 to 6, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Hosted by the UT Center for Women's and Gender
  Studies, NEW Leadership Texas is a nonpartisan residential program
  that educates college women about politics and policy making and
  encourages them to get involved in the political process; the
  institute is part of the NEW Leadership National Network, a
  partnership of colleges and universities from across the country
  that is based at the Center for American Women and Politics at
  Rutgers University; and
         WHEREAS, NEW Leadership Texas has accepted 38 students for
  the 2017 session: Jessica Hayden of Austin College; Cameron Young
  of Austin Community College; Mallory Drake and Nicole Wang of
  Baylor University; Ariana Hayaud-Din of Brookhaven College; Ruth
  Pineda of Collin College; Briana Blueitt of Hofstra University;
  Winifred Evans of Huston-Tillotson University; Margaret Turner of
  Lamar University; Dorothy Williams of McMurry University; Neethi
  Nayak of Rice University; Camille Smith of St. Edward's University;
  Geovanie Ordoñez of St. Mary's University; Celeste Campbell,
  Skylar Plummer, and Kat Ralph of Texas Woman's University; Tierney
  Thomison of Trinity University; Sara Rehman and Areli Tamayo of the
  University of Houston; Cheryl Curtis, Kelly Meier, and Sara Ray of
  UH Clear Lake; Brittinee Robinson of UH Downtown; Leenolia Robinson
  of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; Hannah Frosch of the
  University of North Texas; Karen Carranza of The University of
  Texas at Arlington; Megan Abrameit, Marina Cano, Anna Cherian, and
  Dasia Warner of UT Austin; Madeleine Keith and Rebecca Reyes of UT
  Dallas; Noelia Collins, Kenia Guerrero, and Raneem Karboji of UT El
  Paso; Hope Lutteringer and Emily Pinal of UT Tyler; and Carolyn
  García of UT Rio Grande Valley; and
         WHEREAS, NEW Leadership Texas is an important initiative that
  is helping to build the next generation of female leaders in the
  Lone Star State and beyond, and it is sure to make a positive
  difference in the lives of the students taking part in this highly
  respected program; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the 2017 class of NEW Leadership Texas
  and extend to its members sincere best wishes for a rewarding
  experience; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
