R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, George Ann Voss has been presented with a Superstar |
|
|
Award from the Student Support Services--STEM program at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, SSS-STEM is part of the university's Programs for |
|
|
Academic Student Support (PASS) initiative, which furthers the |
|
|
goals of TAMU--CC by providing resources to low-income, |
|
|
first-generation, and underrepresented students; in receiving a |
|
|
Superstar Award, Ms. Voss was recognized for helping other |
|
|
students, demonstrating exceptional leadership, and participating |
|
|
in a variety of campus and program activities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Ms. Voss received an |
|
|
associate degree in liberal arts from San Antonio College; she is |
|
|
currently a senior at TAMU--CC and will graduate with a bachelor's |
|
|
degree in nursing in May 2017; she is also an ROTC cadet and serves |
|
|
as a mentor for her fellow ROTC nursing students; moreover, she has |
|
|
helped lead two nursing classes at TAMU--CC as a student |
|
|
instructor, and she holds membership in the Golden Key |
|
|
International Honour Society and the Sigma Theta Tau International |
|
|
Honor Society of Nursing; this outstanding young Texan has earned |
|
|
admission to the Washington State University Doctor of Nursing |
|
|
Practice--Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, |
|
|
and in August 2017, she will be commissioned as a second lieutenant |
|
|
in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, George Ann Voss is indeed deserving of this |
|
|
prestigious honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate George Ann Voss on her receipt of |
|
|
an SSS-STEM Superstar Award and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Voss as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
