R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Elder Debra Battise-Kleinman of the Indian
  Presbyterian Church at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation
  served as Pastor of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives
  on May 2, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Shila Battise and the late Mikko
  Atokla Colabe Tuklo Emmett Battise of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe
  of Texas, Debra Battise-Kleinman spent her youth in New Summerfield
  and Rusk before moving to the Alabama-Coushatta reservation near
  Livingston with her family in 1972; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has been active in the
  Presbyterian Church on both the local and national level, and in
  2009 she completed The Institute for Pastoral Studies program
  through the Presbytery of the New Covenant to become the
  commissioned lay pastor and ruling elder at the reservation; and
         WHEREAS, Before she was called to the ministry, Elder
  Battise-Kleinman enjoyed a successful career as an educator,
  working in the Tarkington Independent School District for 6 years
  and in the Goodrich district for another 21; she holds bachelor's
  and master's degrees in education from Stephen F. Austin State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a treasured family, Elder
  Battise-Kleinman is the proud mother of a daughter, Krista, and she
  cherishes the time she spends with her two granddaughters, Katahnah
  and Teagan; and
         WHEREAS, Elder Battise-Kleinman exemplifies the highest
  standards of her vocation, and through the years, she has set an
  inspiring example of faith in action; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Elder Debra Battise-Kleinman for her
  service as Pastor of the Day on May 2, 2017, and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success and fulfillment; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Elder Battise-Kleinman as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
