R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Ja'Nae Elyse Hammond of Missouri City has attained
  the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits
  recognition; and
         WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Hammond successfully
  met a series of requirements emphasizing community service,
  personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership
  skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl
  Scout Gold Award project that involved organizing a five-day
  self-esteem workshop for middle and high school students at the
  Boys and Girls Club of Stafford; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Earlmond and Janette Hammond,
  Ms. Hammond is a senior at Lawrence Elkins High School who, in
  addition to balancing a full academic course load with myriad Girl
  Scout activities, has further distinguished herself as a four-year
  volunteer for the Fifth Ward Christmas in the Nickel; following her
  graduation, she plans to continue her education at Prairie View A&M
  University, where she will pursue a degree in accounting; and
         WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
  young women to explore career opportunities and to become more
  socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its
  participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged
  citizens and leaders; and
         WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Hammond has
  demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
  ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on
  a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ja'Nae Elyse Hammond on her receipt
  of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hammond as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
