R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Loi Lao has been designated a co-salutatorian of the
  Class of 2017 at Sharpstown International School in Houston, and he
  indeed merits special recognition for this significant
  accomplishment; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; in securing his place as one of the
  three top-ranking students in his class, Mr. Lao demonstrated a
  thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and his
  attainment of this coveted distinction is the crowning achievement
  of a notable high school career; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to excelling academically, Mr. Lao has
  participated in numerous extracurricular activities, including
  performing with his school's wind ensemble and playing intramural
  basketball; he has also taken part in The Woods Project, and he has
  been honored with a Taiwan Scholar Award and an AP Scholar Award;
  the recipient of a Texas A&M University Regents' Scholarship, he
  plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry at that institution
  following his graduation; and
         WHEREAS, During his years at Sharpstown International
  School, Loi Lao has earned the respect and admiration of his
  teachers and classmates, and his exceptional scholastic ability and
  commitment to excellence have opened the way to a bright and
  promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Loi Lao on his designation as a
  co-salutatorian of the Sharpstown International School Class of
  2017 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success as
  he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Lao as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
