R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Veteran health care administrator Russell Meyers is
  being honored with the MS Hope Award at the National Multiple
  Sclerosis Society's annual Dinner of Champions in Midland on April
  27, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, The highest award presented by the society, the MS
  Hope Award recognizes individuals who have achieved distinction in
  their field and who have rendered exceptional service to their
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Russell Meyers earned his bachelor's degree in
  economics and managerial studies at Rice University in 1981, and he
  received a master's degree in health services administration from
  the University of Houston--Clear Lake in 1986; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan began his career with the
  Methodist Healthcare System in Houston, and he went on to work for
  HCA Healthcare, serving as president and CEO of Texas Orthopedic
  Hospital in Houston, Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, and the
  Conroe Regional Medical Center; and
         WHEREAS, In November 2002, Mr. Meyers became president and
  CEO of Midland Memorial Hospital, where, over the course of his
  outstanding 15-year tenure, he has earned the respect and
  admiration of the hospital's medical professionals, staff, and
  patients; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Meyers is active in a number of professional and
  community organizations; he is a Fellow of the American College of
  Healthcare Executives, and in 1998, he was named as a distinguished
  alumnus of the University of Houston--Clear Lake; and
         WHEREAS, The skilled, farsighted leadership that Russell
  Meyers has brought to Midland Memorial has greatly benefited the
  residents of Midland and the surrounding area, and he may indeed
  take pride in his receipt of this prestigious award; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Russell Meyers on receiving the MS
  Hope Award and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success in his important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Meyers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
