R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Callie duPerier Apffel of Boerne earned a spot on
  the Bandera County Cowboy Champion Monument on December 27, 2016,
  an honor that follows her exceptional achievement of becoming the
  2015 Women's Professional Rodeo Association World Champion Barrel
  Racer; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in Bandera, Ms. duPerier Apffel began barrel
  racing at the age of 13, and she has since experienced a meteoric
  rise in the world of competitive rodeo; after capturing the WPRA
  Junior World Title in 2010, she won numerous competitions in 2014,
  including the Coleman PRCA Rodeo and the Cowboy Capital Pro Rodeo,
  and by the end of the year, she ranked 25th in the world; and
         WHEREAS, To secure her 2015 world barrel racing title,
  Ms. duPerier Apffel and her equine partner, Rare Dillion, placed
  first in the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Average Barrel Racing
  Championship, proving themselves top performers through 10 runs and
  finishing with an outstanding cumulative time of 140.41 seconds;
  her victory in the Wrangler NFR competition in Las Vegas put her
  total year-end earnings at $303,846 and placed her at the top of the
  WPRA world barrel racing standings; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her world championship triumph,
  the Bandera County Historical Commission honored Ms. duPerier
  Apffel by adding her name to the Bandera County Cowboy Champion
  Monument, making her the first woman to be listed on the statue; and
         WHEREAS, This gifted rider has distinguished herself through
  her exceptional skill and unwavering commitment to excellence, and
  she may indeed take justifiable pride in her outstanding success in
  the field of professional rodeo; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Callie duPerier Apffel on earning
  the title of 2015 WPRA World Champion Barrel Racer and commend her
  on her inclusion among the legendary figures enshrined on the
  Bandera County Cowboy Champion Monument; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. duPerier Apffel as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
