R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Theater Arts students from Tuloso-Midway Middle |
|
|
School won first place in the University Interscholastic League |
|
|
One-Act Play district competition on February 25, 2017, at the |
|
|
Dr. Sue Nelson Performing Arts Center in Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The group staged John Lennon & Me by Cherie Bennett, |
|
|
and members impressed the judges with their presentation of the |
|
|
story of a young Beatles fan striving to live her life to the |
|
|
fullest in the face of a progressive, genetic disease; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to taking the top prize, individual cast |
|
|
members received a number of additional honors: Janeth Hernandez |
|
|
was named Best Actress, the All-Star Cast award went to Lorena San |
|
|
Pedro and Kelsey Crawford, Jenna Barrera was recognized as |
|
|
Outstanding Technician, and honorable mentions were given to Ian |
|
|
Cameron and Marysa Lozano; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated |
|
|
remarkable talent and dedication, and they may indeed take pride in |
|
|
this noteworthy achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Tuloso-Midway Middle School |
|
|
Theater Arts students on winning first place in the UIL One-Act Play |
|
|
district competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
