R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her military service during World
  War II, Marilyn Dow is being presented with a Women in History award
  by the Corpus Christi Chapter of the National Society Daughters of
  the American Revolution on March 24, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, At the age of 21, Marilyn Dow joined the United
  States Marine Corps as part of the Women Accepted for Volunteer
  Emergency Service program in 1943; she worked as a teletypist in the
  communications office at the Edenton Marine Corps Air Station in
  North Carolina, where her duties included receiving and
  transmitting coded messages; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a debt of gratitude to those men and
  women who commit themselves to defending the nation's liberty and
  security, and Marilyn Dow may indeed take great pride in her
  outstanding service to her nation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Marilyn Dow on her receipt of a
  Women in History award from the Corpus Christi Chapter of the
  National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Dow as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
