R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Association of School Business
  Officials are gathering in Austin on February 28, 2017, to
  celebrate TASBO Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1946, TASBO is an independent, nonprofit
  association that has served as an important resource for school
  finance and operations for more than seven decades; and
         WHEREAS, The organization annually presents more than 400
  live, interactive, and recorded events to provide professional
  development for those who work in the areas of school business and
  operations; moreover, TASBO offers training for three levels of
  professional certification so that members and nonmembers alike can
  stay current on changing regulations and best practices in their
  field; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to creating learning opportunities for
  its professionals, TASBO advocates on behalf of Texas public
  schools; it currently has approximately 6,500 members, and the
  organization is ably led by Dr. Tracy Ginsburg, executive director,
  and Karen Smith, president of the board and assistant
  superintendent of business and finance at the Cypress-Fairbanks
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, By coordinating efforts to seek effective solutions
  in the challenging arena of school finance, TASBO is dedicated to
  improving educational opportunities for more than five million
  young Texans in public schools, and it is indeed fitting that the
  group be honored for its efforts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 28, 2017, as Texas
  Association of School Business Officials Day at the State Capitol
  and extend to the visiting delegation sincere best wishes for an
  informative and enjoyable stay in Austin.
