R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Deputy Chief LaTesha Watson of the Arlington Police
  Department has been named to the 2016 list of "40 Under 40" law
  enforcement professionals by the International Association of
  Chiefs of Police; and
         WHEREAS, LaTesha Watson graduated with a bachelor's degree in
  criminal justice and a master's degree in criminology from the
  University of North Texas; she went on to earn her Ph.D. in
  management and organizational leadership, and she is currently
  pursuing a doctorate in international psychology; during her
  18-year career in law enforcement, she worked with the police
  departments in Hutchins and Lewisville before joining the Arlington
  PD in 2002; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure, Dr. Watson has
  advanced through the ranks, serving as a field training officer, a
  sergeant, and a lieutenant before being named deputy chief in 2014;
  she has also held various positions with the Field Operations
  Bureau, the Technical Services Division, and the Operations Support
  Division, and today she oversees the East Arlington Patrol
  Division; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her meritorious service, Deputy
  Chief Watson has twice been nominated for Supervisor of the Year,
  which she won in 2010, and she was selected as a policing fellow by
  the Police Foundation in 2008; moreover, she was the recipient of
  the 2016 Rising Star Award from the Women's Alliance of the
  Arlington Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her courage, professionalism, and
  unyielding dedication to duty, LaTesha Watson exemplifies the
  highest standards of her vocation, and this accolade is indeed a
  fitting tribute to her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Chief LaTesha Watson on her
  selection to the 2016 list of "40 Under 40" by the International
  Association of Chiefs of Police and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Deputy Chief Watson as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
