R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas Alliance of Information & Referral Systems
  is celebrating its 40th anniversary on November 14, 2017, and in
  February its members are visiting the Texas State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, This statewide association enjoys a diverse
  membership that includes community nonprofits, military and
  veteran service organizations, aging and disability resource
  centers, crisis hotlines, libraries, and state agencies; and
         WHEREAS, Together, these dedicated groups seek to provide
  Texans with early intervention and support in times of crisis by
  simplifying access to health and human service providers; staffed
  by professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the services
  available in their communities, they empower individuals to make
  informed choices and take appropriate action through an emphasis on
  education, advocacy, and problem solving; and
         WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1977, TAIRS plays a vital role in
  ensuring that those individuals and organizations involved in the
  Texas information and referral sector uphold clear and consistent
  professional standards; it also administers certification
  examinations throughout the year and hosts an annual education and
  training conference, where workers learn how to better connect the
  public with the resources they need; and
         WHEREAS, The members of TAIRS work to affirm the dignity,
  self-worth, and independence of individuals across the Lone Star
  State, and they are indeed deserving of recognition on the occasion
  of this important milestone in the organization's history; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Texas
  Alliance of Information & Referral Systems and extend to its
  members sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable visit
  to Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
