A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of state money to pay certain payments, |
|
|
including debt service payments, for public-private partnership |
|
|
projects. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 2267, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2267.0601 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2267.0601. USE OF STATE MONEY. To the extent the |
|
|
payments are directly related to a qualifying project that serves |
|
|
the public purpose of this chapter, a responsible governmental |
|
|
entity may use state money to pay the following: |
|
|
(1) a lease payment; |
|
|
(2) a service payment; |
|
|
(3) a user fee; or |
|
|
(4) debt service. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
