A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to exempting certain persons from a fee for replacement |
|
registration insignia and license plates. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 502.060(b), Transportation Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(b) No fee is required under this section if: |
|
(1) the replacement fee for a license plate has been |
|
paid under Section 504.007; or |
|
(2) a county assessor-collector determines that the |
|
owner of a registered motor vehicle did not receive a registration |
|
insignia that was issued to the owner by mail. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 504.007, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: |
|
(g) No fee is required under this section if a county |
|
assessor-collector determines that the owner of a registered motor |
|
vehicle did not receive license plates that were issued to the owner |
|
by mail. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
