A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to qualifications to serve as a member of the governing |
|
|
body of an open-enrollment charter school or the governing body of a |
|
|
charter holder. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 12.1202, Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 12.1202. REQUIREMENT FOR MEMBER [MAJORITY OF MEMBERS] |
|
|
OF GOVERNING BODY. (a) A person must be a qualified voter to serve |
|
|
as a member [majority] of [the members of] the governing body of an |
|
|
open-enrollment charter school or a member of the governing body of |
|
|
a charter holder [must be qualified voters]. |
|
|
(b) In this section, "qualified voter" has the meaning |
|
|
assigned by Section 11.002, Election Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
