Elise Ybarra |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|
|
of Abilene in mourning the loss of Detective Elise Ybarra, who died |
|
|
in the line of duty August 6, 2017, at the age of 33; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Elise Ybarra was an exemplary citizen and a |
|
|
peace officer who was widely respected and admired for her |
|
|
dedication to her profession and for her many contributions to |
|
|
her community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Detective Ybarra began her career in law |
|
|
enforcement as a member of the Sedalia Police Department in |
|
|
Missouri; in 2014, she joined the Abilene Police Department and |
|
|
served as a patrol officer before transferring to the Special |
|
|
Victims Unit as a child abuse investigator in 2016; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she handled the |
|
|
unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage, |
|
|
professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Adam, were blessed |
|
|
with a daughter, who was a source of much pride and joy for her; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and integrity, |
|
|
she gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living |
|
|
each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were |
|
|
privileged to share in her life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves |
|
|
behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and |
|
|
many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences |
|
|
to the bereaved family of Elise Ybarra; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Elise Ybarra. |
