SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 46
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign Wars |
|
|
Post 7473 in Elsa for its long and distinguished record of |
|
|
service to veterans and to the community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign |
|
|
Wars Post 7473 was chartered on March 3, 1968, and was named after |
|
|
the first casualty in the Vietnam War from Elsa; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Commander Lupita Perez, a |
|
|
veteran of the Iraq War, the post has been designated as an All |
|
|
State post three times; it has also been named three times as an |
|
|
All American post, the highest accolade a Veterans of Foreign |
|
|
Wars post can receive; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These prestigious honors are a reflection of the |
|
|
post's commitment to supporting veterans and to creating |
|
|
programs for the benefit of the community; the initiatives |
|
|
established by Post 7473 include its award-winning citizenship |
|
|
education programs and youth activities programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The men and women of the Sergeant Benito Alaniz |
|
|
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7473 have had a profound impact on |
|
|
the Elsa community through their hard work and dedication to |
|
|
public service, and it is truly fitting that they receive special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members of |
|
|
the Sergeant Benito Alaniz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7473 on |
|
|
their many contributions to the community and extend to them best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the post as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
