Jay Holland |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Jay Holland, who died May 24, 2017, at |
|
|
the age of 68; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jay Holland was an exemplary citizen who was |
|
|
widely respected and admired in the Abilene community for his |
|
|
many achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Sue Ann, were blessed with |
|
|
a daughter, Ashley, and two grandchildren, Jason and Evan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Holland worked for more than three decades |
|
|
with the West Texas Rehabilitation Center; a skilled |
|
|
audiologist, he served the center in a variety of roles; he was |
|
|
director of Audiology, director of Treatment Services, vice |
|
|
president of Development, and chief operations officer; he later |
|
|
managed a group of physicians at the Abilene Diagnostic Clinic |
|
|
before joining his wife in audiology at the Holland Hearing |
|
|
Center in 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was active with a wide range of philanthropic |
|
|
organizations, including Ben Richey Boy's Ranch, Disability |
|
|
Resources, and Global Samaritan Resources; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Noted for his strength, wisdom, and unfailing |
|
|
kindness, he gave generously to others, and his compassion, his |
|
|
keen sense of humor, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|
|
fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
|
|
and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|
|
family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences |
|
|
to the bereaved family of Jay Holland; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Jay Holland. |
