R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Constable David Hill of Montgomery County Precinct 5 |
|
|
is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his career in law |
|
|
enforcement on August 18, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, David Hill became a corrections officer with the |
|
|
Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1967, and the following |
|
|
year, he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety and enrolled |
|
|
in the police academy; after graduating in 1969, he was assigned to |
|
|
the city of Magnolia, in southwestern Montgomery County; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Originally intending to stay only a few years, |
|
|
Trooper Hill came to love the area and its people; the feeling was |
|
|
mutual, and in 1973, he was named Officer of the Year by the Conroe |
|
|
Optimist Club; he further strengthened his bond with the community |
|
|
by serving on the board of the Magnolia Independent School District |
|
|
from 1979 to 1982; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was first elected as Precinct 5 |
|
|
constable in 1982, and he has held the office ever since as the only |
|
|
elected constable in the precinct's history; over the course of his |
|
|
exemplary 35-year tenure, he has overseen the growth of his |
|
|
office's staff from one chief deputy in the early days to 24 |
|
|
deputies and 2 clerks today; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Constable Hill has also contributed to his community |
|
|
as a member and president of the Lions Club and as a founding member |
|
|
of the Society of Samaritans, Intercept Ministries, and the |
|
|
Magnolia Support Group; in addition, he has given generously of his |
|
|
time and talents to the Justices of the Peace and Constables |
|
|
Association of Texas, which he has served twice as president and |
|
|
which voted him Constable of the Year in 2001; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, David Hill's unfailing professionalism and deep |
|
|
commitment to protecting and serving the public have greatly |
|
|
benefited the citizens of Montgomery County and earned him the |
|
|
respect and admiration of his fellow peace officers, and he may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he reaches |
|
|
this impressive milestone in his career; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Constable |
|
|
David Hill on his 50th anniversary in law enforcement and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for continued success in his important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Constable Hill as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
