R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Domaniek Shepherd on March 22,
  2016, at the age of 38, brought a heartbreaking loss to the family
  and many friends of this beloved woman; and
         WHEREAS, Domaniek Shepherd was born on February 17, 1978, in
  Gary, Indiana, to Wayman and Patricia Shepherd; she moved with her
  family to Texas in 1984 and attended Skyline High School in Dallas,
  where she demonstrated musical talent and leadership skills as head
  drum major for the Raider Band; after graduating, she went on to
  study fashion design and merchandising at Texas Woman's University
  and began her lifelong involvement in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority as
  a member of the campus's Kappa Nu Chapter; and
         WHEREAS, Seldom afraid to take risks in the pursuit of her
  dreams, Ms. Shepherd founded two businesses, Dmari Group and Miique
  Apparel, along with a nonprofit organization focused on women's
  empowerment known as I Love Me; an accomplished seamstress, her
  signature flair for bold colors and daring designs gave her
  clothing a style all its own; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, Ms. Shepherd was the
  mother of two children, Jaida and Kollin, and she shared a rewarding
  relationship with her fiancé, Kacey Bernard Titus; in addition to
  her enthusiasm for fashion, she enjoyed decorating, baking,
  shopping, and arts and crafts, and she earned the affection of
  innumerable people with her positive and fun-loving nature and her
  ability to make others laugh; and
         WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too
  soon, Domaniek Shepherd enriched the lives of her loved ones beyond
  measure, and they will forever remember the passion, creativity,
  and joyous spirit that she brought to every endeavor she undertook;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Domaniek Shepherd and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members
  of her family: to her children, Jaida Simone Cole and Kollin Bernard
  Titus; to her parents, Wayman Shepherd and Patricia Shepherd; to
  her sisters, Tanieka Davis and Syreeta Shepherd; to her nephews,
  Kole Davis and Omann K. Newton; to her grandparents, Vera Brumfield
  and Juanita Shepherd; to her fiancé, Kacey Bernard Titus; and to her
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Domaniek
  Shepherd.
