R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Bells High School softball team reached the
  pinnacle of success by winning the 2017 University Interscholastic
  League 2A state championship on June 1 at the Red and Charline
  McCombs Field at The University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, During their campaign for the championship crown,
  the Panthers enjoyed a remarkable run through the postseason,
  dispatching opponents from Campbell, Axtell, Trenton, Moody, and
  Tom Bean High Schools before advancing to the state tournament,
  where they recorded a 3-1 victory over Archer City High School in
  the semifinals; and
         WHEREAS, Facing off in a thrilling finale against the
  two-time defending state champions from Shiner High School, the
  Panthers rallied back from a three-run deficit in the seventh
  inning to ultimately clinch the trophy by a final score of 7-6; the
  triumph marked the first state softball title in school history and
  capped off a memorable season in which the squad compiled an
  impressive record of 32 wins and just 3 losses; and
         WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Panthers
  received significant contributions throughout the season from each
  member of the roster, and these talented student-athletes were
  inspired to play at the top of their game by head coach Kristina
  Stephens and assistant coaches Lisa Johnson and Gary Rowland; and
         WHEREAS, The Bells High School softball team demonstrated
  exemplary teamwork and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and
  the players and their many supporters in the local community will
  forever cherish the memory of this outstanding accomplishment; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Bells High
  School softball team on winning the 2017 UIL 2A state championship
  and extend to all those associated with the team sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the squad as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
