R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Lindsay High School academic team won the 2017
  University Interscholastic League 2A state championship; and
         WHEREAS, One of the most comprehensive literary and academic
  competitions in the nation, the UIL Academic State Meet includes 29
  high school events that complement the curriculum and allow
  students to demonstrate their knowledge and ability in a range of
  demanding disciplines; and
         WHEREAS, The Knights gave an impressive showing in a number
  of events to garner a cumulative total of 169 points and secure the
  championship crown; the victory marked the 15th UIL academic state
  title for Lindsay High; and
         WHEREAS, Team wins in the number sense and calculator
  contests and a second-place team finish in mathematics contributed
  to the overall score, and Lindsay students also earned individual
  prizes in calculator, student congress, headline writing,
  mathematics, number sense, social studies, spelling, and
  informative speaking; and
         WHEREAS, These talented young Texans have demonstrated
  exceptional skill and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and
  they may indeed take justifiable pride as they reflect on this
  outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Lindsay
  High School academic team on winning the 2017 University
  Interscholastic League 2A state championship and extend to the team
  members and teachers sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
