R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Gerry Lopez of the Port Isabel Police |
|
|
Department demonstrated exceptional skill and composure when he |
|
|
helped save the life of an infant on July 9, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In the early afternoon on that day, Officer Lopez |
|
|
was flagged down by a distraught couple who had pulled over to the |
|
|
roadside because their baby had stopped breathing; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Lopez began performing CPR, which succeeded |
|
|
in reviving the child; after emergency medical services personnel |
|
|
arrived on the scene, the baby was transported to a hospital in |
|
|
Brownsville, where his condition has continued to improve; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his swift and decisive action, Officer Gerry |
|
|
Lopez helped to prevent a dire situation from becoming a tragedy, |
|
|
and he is truly deserving of the gratitude and admiration of his |
|
|
fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Officer Gerry Lopez |
|
|
for rescuing an infant in distress and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Officer Lopez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
