R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Citizens National Bank of Texas is celebrating its |
|
150th anniversary in 2018; and |
|
WHEREAS, This institution was initially founded in 1868 as |
|
Ferris and Getzendaner, Attorneys at Law and Bankers, in |
|
Waxahachie; the business served as the only banking operation in |
|
North Texas for many years, and in June 1884, it earned a federal |
|
charter and was renamed Citizens National Bank; in 1905, it merged |
|
with First National Bank to become Citizens National Bank of |
|
Waxahachie, and it went on to do business under that banner for a |
|
century before assuming its present name; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since 1930, CNBT has primarily been owned and |
|
operated by the same family; Colonel M. E. Singleton served as |
|
president for eight years before his death in 1938, at which time |
|
his son, M. E. "Marvin" Singleton Jr., took the reins; he in turn |
|
was succeeded by his son, George H. Singleton, in 1987, and for the |
|
past quarter century, the bank has been ably guided by a member of |
|
the fourth generation, M. E. "Mark" Singleton III; and |
|
WHEREAS, From its humble beginnings, CNBT has undergone |
|
dramatic growth, and today it encompasses 12 branches across 9 |
|
North Texas cities and holds more than $800 million in total assets; |
|
through the years, the bank has supported a host of charities and |
|
civic organizations and awarded over 600 college scholarships to |
|
local students; in the past year alone, its employees have |
|
contributed a combined total of some 15,000 volunteer hours to |
|
their respective communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, For a century and a half, Citizens National Bank of |
|
Texas has played a vital role in the prosperity of the Dallas-Fort |
|
Worth Metroplex and beyond, and it is truly deserving of special |
|
recognition on this important milestone in its history; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the |
|
sesquicentennial of Citizens National Bank of Texas and extend to |
|
all those associated with the institution sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the bank as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
