R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by
  the family and friends of Mikal "Zane" Walker of Waxahachie, a
  remarkable young man whose life was cut tragically short on July 3,
  2017, at the age of 17; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on July 19, 1999, Zane Walker was the
  cherished son of Stacey and Shane Walker and the brother of Katie
  Walker; he had recently graduated from Waxahachie High School,
  where he was a varsity swimmer and a three-year letterman on the
  Indians soccer team; passionate about sports and outdoor activities
  of any kind, he volunteered his time as a youth-league soccer
  referee and as an assistant coach for his sister's soccer team, and
  he had recently taken a job as a lifeguard; he planned to continue
  his studies at Texas State University in the fall; and
         WHEREAS, A young man who embraced life to the fullest,
  Mr. Walker was also a kind, loyal, and supportive friend; with his
  lively personality and wonderful sense of humor, he made every
  occasion all the more memorable, and he was admired by everyone for
  the determination and fearlessness with which he pursued his goals;
  and
         WHEREAS, Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, those
  fortunate enough to have known Zane Walker will never forget the
  joy, laughter, and love that he shared with them, and they will keep
  his memory in their hearts forever; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Mikal "Zane" Walker and extend deepest condolences to all those who
  mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Zane
  Walker.
