A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation of a maternal health care improvement |
|
|
program to address maternal morbidity. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 34, Health and Safety Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 34.0155 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 34.0155. MATERNAL HEALTH CARE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. |
|
|
The task force shall develop or oversee the development of a program |
|
|
to distribute maternal health care informational materials to |
|
|
health care providers in this state to standardize treatment |
|
|
protocols and improve the health care response for leading causes |
|
|
of preventable death among pregnant and postpartum women, including |
|
|
causes related to: |
|
|
(1) cardiac health conditions; |
|
|
(2) preeclampsia, eclampsia, and other hypertensive |
|
|
disorders; and |
|
|
(3) hemorrhage. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the |
|
|
legislative session. |
