SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON -S/C BORDER SECURITY

Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Subcommittee on -S/C Border Security was held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:31 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Lucio, Jr.  moved that the vote by which the committee substitute for SB 838 was adopted at the April 30, 2015 hearing be reconsidered. There being no objection,  it was so ordered.           

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved to temporarily withdraw SB 838 and to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute for SB 838 was adopted at the April 6, 2015 hearing and moved to withdraw the substitute. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Lucio, Jr. sent up the committee substitute for SB 838, previously considered at the April 30, 2015 hearing. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection it was so ordered.

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 838 do not pass, but that the committee substitute adopted in lieu thereof be reported to the full Senate Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Committee with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a  record vote of 2 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

There being no further business, at 4:33 PM Senator Birdwell moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
