Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, in the Senate Chamber.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair announced that the purpose of the hearing was to consider three interim charges, related to healthy aging, long term care quality and oversight, and wrongful birth lawsuits. The Chair opened invited testimony on Interim Charge 3A, related to healthy aging. Witnesses are shown on the attached list.

 

The Chair opened invited testimony on Charge 3B, related to long-term care quality and oversight.  Witnesses are shown on the attached list.

 

At 1:23 PM Senator Kolkhorst assumed the chair.

 

At 1:27 PM Senator Schwertner resumed the chair.

 

The Chair opened invited testimony on Charge 1B, related to wrongful birth causes of action. Witnesses are shown on the attached list.

 

Public testimony was taken on all three charges.  Witnesses are shown on the attached list.  Testimony on all three charges was closed.

 

There being no further business, at 4:09 PM Senator Schwertner moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
