Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Senator Taylor's Desk.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:12 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senators Campbell and Lucio, Jr.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business SB 149 and recognized the author, Senator Seliger, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Seliger made a motion to withdraw the committee substitute to SB 149 that was considered at the February 19, 2015 hearing. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

 

Senator Seliger sent up a new committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Seliger to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Kolkhorst moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Seliger moved that SB 149 do not pass but that CSSB 149 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 11 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Campbell submitted a motion in writing requesting unanimous consent to be shown  voting aye on CSSB 149.

 

There being no further business, at 1:19 PM Senator Garcia moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
