LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 27, 2015

TO:
Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2574 by Johnson (Relating to increasing awareness of the danger of heatstroke for a child left unattended in a motor vehicle.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require that resource materials currently distributed to parents by providers of childbirth services include information on the danger of heatstroke to a child left unattended in a vehicle. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) would be required to make the materials available on its website. DSHS indicates that implementation of the bill by the Safe Riders Program at DSHS could be absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
