FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 27, 2015

TO:
Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1559 by Parker (Relating to public school Internet website information concerning local programs and services available to assist homeless students.), As Passed 2nd House

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require certain schools that maintain an Internet website to post information regarding local programs and services, including charitable programs and services, available to assist homeless students.

The bill would require certain schools that did not have a full-time nurse assigned to it for more than 30 consecutive instructional days to provide written notice of this fact to each student's parent or guardian. A school could satisfy the notice requirement by posting the notice on the school's Internet website.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. School districts may incur some costs associated with compiling and posting information related to assisting homeless students.
