SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1008
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Dr. Nora de Hoyos Comstock, who is retiring as
	president and chief executive officer of Las Comadres Para Las
	Americas; and
	WHEREAS, Nora Comstock founded Las Comadres Para Las
	Americas so that Latinas everywhere could connect with one
	another and address important issues; this exceptional nonprofit
	organization boasts a membership of more than 20,000 women from
	across the nation and around the world; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Comstock has been responsible for the
	creation of multiple programs and initiatives, including the
	Texas Public Policy and Civic Engagement Institute, the Las
	Comadres and Friends National Latino Book Club and
	Teleconference Series, Comadre University, Empresarias
	Entrepreneurship Training, and the Comadres and Compadres
	Writers Conference; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Comstock's numerous awards and honors include
	her selection as a 2000 Fellow of the National Hispana Leadership
	Institute and as a participant in the 22nd Seminario Fundacion
	Solidaridad; she is the recipient of a lifetime achievement award
	from the Hispanic Professional Women's Association, and she
	received a Maybelline 2008 Beauty of Education Award; she was a
	2012 inductee of the Austin Women's Hall of Fame; and
	WHEREAS, Nora de Hoyos Comstock has had a profound impact
	on Hispanic women throughout the world, and her presence as
	president and chief executive officer of Las Comadres Para Las
	Americas will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Nora de Hoyos Comstock on her
	many achievements as the national and international founder of
	Las Comadres Para Las Americas and extend to her best wishes for
	continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
