SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 519
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize April 8, 2015, as Texas Home School Day at the Capitol; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This special event is sponsored by the Texas Home |
|
|
School Coalition, which was established in 1986 with the mission |
|
|
of serving and informing the home school community and promoting |
|
|
home education in Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas Home School Day at the Capitol provides |
|
|
families from across the state with an opportunity to meet with |
|
|
elected officials and discuss issues of importance regarding |
|
|
home education; it offers students the opportunity to learn the |
|
|
details of legislative procedures and the importance of citizen |
|
|
participation in the political process; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas has one of the most favorable environments |
|
|
in the country for home education, and more than 120,000 families |
|
|
throughout the state have chosen this method of schooling for |
|
|
their children; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Home School Coalition on |
|
|
its exemplary efforts on behalf of home education and extend to |
|
|
all those associated with Texas Home School Day at the Capitol |
|
|
best wishes for a memorable experience; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
