SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 317
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Gilbert Zamora Sr. on the grand occasion of his 90th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, Gilbert Zamora is well known for his wisdom and
  generosity of spirit, and he is respected and admired by all who
  are privileged to know him; and
         WHEREAS, Gilbert Zamora was born March 13, 1925, in
  Morrill, Nebraska, the fourth of Fidela and H. O. Zamora's 13
  children; he served the nation with distinction in the United
  States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal; he later
  joined the Texas National Guard and retired as a first lieutenant
  after nearly a decade of service; and
         WHEREAS, He married Mary Elizondo on November 27, 1945, and
  they were blessed with two children, Gilbert Zamora Jr. and Diane
  Pedersen, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a
  great-great-grandchild; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Zamora enjoyed a long and productive career
  as the owner of Zamora Refrigeration; he has been active in his
  community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and of American
  Legion Post 479, where he served as 2nd vice commander and
  historian; and
         WHEREAS, An inveterate tinkerer and inventor, he created
  such useful gadgets as an aluminum can crusher, a pecan breaker,
  and a ribbon organizer for his wife; he is beloved by his
  grandchildren who have great memories of their visits with him
  while young, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
  fullest is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Gilbert Zamora Sr. on his many
  achievements and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 90th
  birthday celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
