SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 92
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Mrs. Romana Barreda on the grand occasion of her
	100th birthday; and
	WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her wisdom
	and generous spirit, and she is a revered resident of
	Brownsville; and
	WHEREAS, Romana Barreda was born on February 10, 1915, in
	Brownsville, to Maria and Erasmo Garza; she and her beloved
	husband, the late Alfredo Barreda, raised their children with
	love and devotion and were committed to helping them become
	productive members of society; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Barreda instilled in her children the
	importance of faith, honesty, dedication to family, and hard
	work; over the course of her long and fruitful life, she has
	witnessed a wide array of historical events, from watching Amelia
	Earhart fly into Brownsville to seeing 17 United States
	presidents serve in office; and
	WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
	she is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her
	enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and
	WHEREAS, In celebration of her birthday, her nine
	children, her 28 grandchildren, members of her extended family,
	and her many friends are gathering on February 7, 2015, at the
	Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to congratulate
	her and share in this milestone in her life; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby commend Mrs. Romana Barreda on her many
	achievements and extend to her best wishes for a memorable 100th
	birthday celebration; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
