SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The professional practice of certified public |
|
|
accounting in Texas is celebrating its 100th anniversary in |
|
|
2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1915, the Texas Legislature passed the |
|
|
Accountancy Bill, which created the Texas State Board of Public |
|
|
Accountancy to oversee and regulate the examination and |
|
|
certification of accountants in the state; that same year, the |
|
|
Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants was established; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy has |
|
|
since its inception helped ensure that the people of Texas are |
|
|
served by licensed men and women who possess the necessary |
|
|
education, skills, and capabilities to perform the vital |
|
|
function of accounting; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants |
|
|
is committed to serving the public interest with programs that |
|
|
advance the highest standards of ethics and practices within this |
|
|
honored profession; the society's more than 26,000 members work |
|
|
in a wide range of settings, from public accounting firms and |
|
|
private businesses to government agencies, educational |
|
|
institutions, and nonprofit organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For the last century, the Texas State Board of |
|
|
Public Accountancy and the Texas Society of Certified Public |
|
|
Accountants have served the accounting profession and the people |
|
|
of Texas with distinction; it is truly fitting that they receive |
|
|
special recognition for their many contributions to the public |
|
|
good; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the men and women who serve as |
|
|
certified public accountants on their exceptional contributions |
|
|
to the people of Texas and extend to them best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable 100th anniversary of their profession in Texas; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
