A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the use by the state or an agency or political
  subdivision of the state of a same-sex marriage license or similar
  document for the limited purpose of verifying a person's identity.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 6.204, Family Code, is amended by adding
  Subsection (d) to read as follows:
         (d)  Notwithstanding Subsection (c) or any other law, the
  state or an agency or political subdivision of this state may use a
  same-sex marriage license or similar document recognizing or
  validating a same-sex marriage or a civil union for the limited
  purpose of verifying the identity of the person who presents the
  license or document to the state, agency, or political subdivision.
  This subsection does not create, recognize, or validate a same-sex
  marriage or a civil union.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
