A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use by the state or an agency or political |
|
|
subdivision of the state of a same-sex marriage license or similar |
|
|
document for the limited purpose of verifying a person's identity. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 6.204, Family Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsection (c) or any other law, the |
|
|
state or an agency or political subdivision of this state may use a |
|
|
same-sex marriage license or similar document recognizing or |
|
|
validating a same-sex marriage or a civil union for the limited |
|
|
purpose of verifying the identity of the person who presents the |
|
|
license or document to the state, agency, or political subdivision. |
|
|
This subsection does not create, recognize, or validate a same-sex |
|
|
marriage or a civil union. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
