A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to providing a translated copy of a student's |
|
individualized education program to parents unable to speak |
|
English. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 29.005, Education Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: |
|
(d-1) In compliance with Subsection (d), the district shall |
|
provide the child's individualized education program in audiotape |
|
form if requested by the parent. Audiotaped copies shall include |
|
all components of the individualized education program required |
|
under state or federal law that are developed or revised by the |
|
committee. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 |
|
school year. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
